(the curator for Los Altos Hills public art as well as for the Town
Hall) contacted me by email on Friday night letting me that someone was
interested in my painting. That was on exhibit at the LAH Town Hall.

That she was also interested in two other paintings by other
artists. Karen was contacting me for permission to let her friend take the
painting home to see how it would look in her newly finished kitchen.
I took the weekend to think about. Feeling that I was all
ready spread so thin and with my solo exhibit coming up could I really afford
to let a piece go? Wait a minute, isn’t this one of the reasons I paint and
show, is to sell so I can continue to paint and show? So Sunday night I followed
up with Karen and let her know that it would be okay for her friend to take the
painting home, to see if it would work.
In less than 24 hours, Karen emailed me letting me know that
the painting had sold and that a check was in the mail.
In less that 48 hours from the time I had consented to loan
the piece out I received a second email. This included a photo of the painting
in its new home and this is what the new owner had to say, “I am thrilled
with Teresa's painting, she is a superb watercolor artist. Her attention
to detail, & the way she had the painting framed. Please tell her for me
that her painting has a prominent resting spot, we will enjoy it all the time.”

Learning about the show “No Limits – Freedom to Create” was
very exciting! And so this piece was created specifically for the show. I wanted to upload the video I have for the painting below - but it was a little bigger than Blogger could handle.

Three pieces were submitted by me, “Floral Inquest,” the 3 –
D piece “Beastly – Beauty” and “Liquid Color.” The first two were accepted.
I don’t always paint for a show, it just so happens that I
did just that for two shows within a year. Originally “Liquid Color” was titled
“Wet Paint.” Being new to the area, Pacific Art League in Palo Alto was the
first club I joined.

Shortly after joining there was an announcement for open
registration and the theme was, “Wet Paint.” I had been playing around with
this idea and now I got to paint it! And I love it. It is such a beautiful
expression of art and me the artist. So imagine my surprise when the painting was
not accepted. Well downhearted does not even begin to describe how I felt. I
thought this piece was a shoe in.
Earlier this year I was in an on line class hosted by AlysonStanfield. It was called the “No Excuse Art Biz Bootcamp.” In this on line
class one of our goals was to have a venue lined up for a solo exhibit. In
doing this I am now going to be having a solo exhibit this summer.

Still not understanding the full sensual translation of the
piece (Liquid Color) and how some might be put off, I asked a juror I had spent some time
with about this and she really didn’t give me an answer.
Now that you the history and background I am so excited to
finally be able to share this painting with you. I replaced “Floral Inquest”
with “Liquid Color.” Yay!!!

Join SCVWS for a
unique experience. Watch Myrna Wacknov, AWS/NWS, Christopher Schink, publisher,
"The Palette Magazine", and Mike Bailey, AWS/NWS paint portraits of
the same clothed, live model. These nationally known artists work for 2 hours in
the morning with model breaks that allow time for the audience to get a closer
look, mingle, and enjoy Hobee's famous coffee cake. At noon we break for a
lunch of pizza, salad and drinks. In the afternoon each artist will give a 20
minute presentation explaining their individual approach to portraiture. There
will also be time to interact with the artists and to visit the SCVWS exhibit
"No Limits - Freedom to Create" Tickets are $25 for members, $30 for
nonmembers with lunch included in the ticket price. Tickets may be purchased
online only by going to www.scvws.org. Use Paypal or a credit card. Members
need to sign into the member's only section to get the member's price. Seating
is limited. The reservation deadline is July 4. Get your tickets now! A
spectacular day of art in a wonderful setting!!
